Talk homework: To explain what you think is going to happen next in our Power of Reading book.

This week we have started a new book called Oliver and the Seawigs. Oliver is a child, his Mum and Dad are explorers, and they take him where ever they go in their explorermobile. Oliver has gone looking for his parents because they have gone missing.

This week our spellings are sadly, completely, wildly, bravely, gently, foolishly, proudly, horribly, nervously, happily.

We have been doing science. In science, we have been learning about states of matter, like solids, liquids and gasses.

In PSHCE we have been sorting foods into food groups for healthy meals. And have created our meals on a food plate.

In Global Learning we had a geography focus this week. In one lesson we were carrying buckets of water around the field to see how hard it was for children in Africa to carry buckets of water 8 miles to and from the well. We also had a plastic bag which we drew a water cycle on; we had to include the words precipitation, evaporation, collection and condensation. We put water in the bags and attached them to the window to try and show the water cycle. We have been able to see water droplets forming in them caused by evaporation and condensation.

In PE with Miss Lizell we have been starting to learn how to play hockey. We started off by dribbling with the hockey stick. With Mrs Farmer we have been practising gymnastics. We were working with a partner to hold balances with a number of points of contact with the ground. For example a 5 point balance had 2 hands, 2 feet and a head touching the floor (only one person managed to do the head point).
