    Talk homework - explain what the 'left over' part is in a division - what is it called? how can you show it using match sticks?

    In maths, Dylan enjoyed learning about different methods of division and Lucas said he was struggling with division but found the part/ whole a useful tool to help solve the calculation. James learnt about multiplication and applying different methods and deciding upon the quickest way.

    Harrison thought that English was fun as we had to use our imagination to draw the descriptive setting from our Power of Reading book.  Liv is enjoying meeting new characters and finding out what the new island holds. Ethan H is excited to find out what will happen next.

    Omar enjoyed Geography this week as we learnt about water pollution and Arya said that the visitor from Anglian Water provided for an eventful day, and we learnt some fun facts, e.g., it takes1300 litres to make a single loaf of bread!

    On field, Ethan A enjoyed learning new skills in hockey.  This week, we practised running with the ball and how to keep each other safe.

    Emily- Rose loved History this week as we looked back at Roman innovations, she particularly likes finding out about what happened in Britain before our time.  Whilst Bohdan enjoyed learning about the different Roman baths - Caldarium, Tepidarium, Frigidarium.

    This week, Jax enjoyed learning about the states of matter in Science whilst Harrison was interested about how to plan a fair test to answer our investigation question.

    Liv was challenged in Maths qas we were learning how to do the written method in long multiplication.  She was interested by how the compact method was so much quicker.

    In English, George was amused by the introduction of the three new characters in our Power of reading book -Oliver and the Seawigs.

    We continued learning about the Romans in History and how some Celts disliked them. Emily found Boudica's story a fascinating one.

    Alfie enjoyed Maths, where we learnt how to multiply and divide by 10 and 100.

    In PE, we learnt how to pass and receive the ball in hockey which Harrison found interesting.

    We have been introduced to some new characters in our Power of Reading book which Arya thought was fun and interesting.

    Imogen relaxed into our Art lessons where we learned how the tone and colours can affect emotions.

    Ethan A. thought handwriting practice was both useful and pleasant.

    In Science, we have been grouping our different states of matter and Liv believed this was a worthwhile and amusing lesson.

    Jax summed the whole week up by saying he enjoyed everything this week.

    Beau enjoyed the start of our new Power of Reading book – Oliver and the Seawigs where we have been introduced to the new characters.

    In History, Arya found out that many Roman’s influence still exist today and Emily Rose found the topic fascinating.

    Ethan A was just happy to come to school after not seeing his friends for such a long time.

    At playtime, James enjoyed skipping as he is improving all the time and so did Ethan H.  Whilst, Lucas broke his own personal best record.

    Jax has found the past four days very enjoyable.

    Talk homework - talk about the skills from Skills builder that you have used for the projects you have completed this week (pencil case and library)

    We have been busy this week finishing a Skills builder's project called Brilliant Books.  We explored how a library space is used and discovered that it serves the whole community besides just lending out books.  After lengthy discussions, we designed and later built a 3D model using recycled materials. 

    Another project we focused on this week was our DT and Art work.  We sketched out our interpretation of the Firebird, from our Power of Reading book, and then transferred this onto a plastic tile.  After rolling on a thin layer of paint, we printed the image onto a pencil case.

    In English, we drew some amazing images to describe the plot of our Power of Reading book and learnt how to use fronted adverbials.

    In Maths, we have been challenged to work harder whilst learning about multiples of seven.

    Boom reader - We are now 9 weeks into our academic year, many of you have risen to the challenge to create a regular reading routine at home, let's get this to 100% by the end of the weekend to support year four’s learning.
     
    In English, we have been developing a letter to the King after Prince Ivan came to a crossroad and had to choose a path to take, can you recall the three paths there were and which path you chose?
     
    In PE year four enjoyed learning new skills from one another during football. Please all remember your PE kits on Monday as we have a lot of additional sporting events going on, interpose and a skipping workshop. 
     
    During play practice everyone has come together to start organising our stage layout and where cast, signs and props need to be, followed by lots of fun practising the play, with many children not needing their scripts anymore!

    In English, we have started our new Power of Learning reading book, where Harrison enjoyed illustrating the Firebird and describing Prince Ivan's personality.

    In History, Dylan found it enjoyed learning that Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament.

    Beau beat his multiplication booklet record by getting full marks and with 5 seconds to spare.

    Due to the rainy weather, we were unable to use the field, so we did circuits around the track in PE which Ethan A. thought was very fun.

    Alfie is having fun performing his part in our play.

    The Home School agreement has been sent home today.  Please read this with your child and sign it before retuning it to school.

    We are starting to see a real interest in the use of boom reader which is superb. However, research reports parents should be reading with children up to the age of 13, in agreement, feedback from Hinchinbrook state all years including year 11 do guided reading with their tutors as part of their tutorial programme 4 times a week. Therefore, we encourage getting into the habit of reading with an adult at home daily, from the start of primary and continuing up to secondary school to support a pleasure in reading, understanding and vocabulary of books.

    Raven class have challenged themselves in all lessons this week.  We are recapping exchanging in additions in Maths.  Whilst in English, we have just written a recount of our Power of Reading book - Mama Miti.
