In the eyes of God, every child matters, every moment of every day

Friday 25th April 2025

This week’s spellings: address, arrive, certainly, mention, occasionally, reign, experience.

Doodle Maths: Please ensure that the children complete 45 mins of play over the week.

This week we have started reading Lob by Linda Newbury. It is a beautifully written book about nature and family; it is illustrated thoughtfully. We visited the pond to think about how nature can inspire us to write a poem. We saw eight types of birds, including a Redwing and some Bluetits. We thought about our senses and made notes to plan for our poetry.

During PE, we have been learning about athletics and rounders. In our athletics lesson we learnt about sprinting. We looked at Usain Bolt and his successes/techniques and then raced on the field. The children learnt to start correctly and the proper posture. They could see an improvement in their timings once they had honed their techniques.

In Geography, we learnt about Ireland. We studied a map showing land use and topography. The children shared their experiences of visiting the Emerald Isle. We also learnt about some historical locations and the main settlements.

Have a great weekend!
