Talk homework

Talk about the Christmas story. Can you tell your grownups the story from start to finish? You could even draw the story or act it out with your family!

Reading

Thank you to everyone who has been logging their reading on our new Boom Reader app! Please ensure that you are reading EVERY DAY with your child and logging it on the Boom Reader app.

The children have enjoyed doing lots of Christmassy activities that have been linked with our learning, such as missing number problems on Santa Claus and our religious themed Christmas cards.

We really enjoyed completing our Skills Builder project on Friday where the children were put into their delivery teams and sorted and delivered all of the school’s Christmas Cards! The children showed fantastic teamwork skills by working in their groups, listening skills by listening to their team mates and cooperating with them, as well as leadership skills by thinking about their emotions throughout the task and offering advice and support where necessary. The children snuck round the school to deliver the cards and were so well behaved throughout the afternoon, we were really proud of them!

This morning the whole school walked down to the Church for our Christmas Collective Worship Ceremony. We listened to stories, sang Christmas songs and got in the festive spirit ready for the most wonderful time of the year.

BRAMBLE CLASS NOTICE

Please ensure that your child brings their PE kit into school on the FIRST day back as the children will be having a very exciting afternoon with Miss Murkett as we welcome Miss Lizell back to school to start our new PE topic – football! Children will need proper trainers, not plimsolls as the ground may be slippy. Please ensure that they have clothing appropriate for potentially cold weather! Thank you.

We are so proud of how the children have settled into the new and exciting, as well as challenging year one curriculum this term – we would like to thank you for your hard work and support, as well as saying a HUGE well done to the children for working their socks off.

We hope you will come back after a much-needed rest, and a welcome break, for a new term full of exciting learning opportunities and lots of hard work!

Have a wonderful Christmas,

Best wishes,
The Year 1 Team
