Talk homework

Talk to your grownups about the different ways to describe mud. Can you think of any adjectives (describing words) to describe what it is like? What do you like to do in the mud? Challenge: You could even write your own mud poem to go on our excellence board!

Reading

Thank you to everyone who has been logging their reading on our new Boom Reader app! Please ensure that you are reading EVERY DAY with your child and logging it on the Boom Reader app.

Please make sure that you send your child into school with their reading folder every day as We will be reading with your children in school at least once a week.

Spellings

Please continue to practise your spellings over the weekend, they will be tested on Monday.

In English this week the children have been working super hard to understand what a poem is and to write their very own poems about mud. We described what mud is like, what we can do in the mud and talked about how we don’t always need to write in full sentences when we are writing a poem. The children had some fantastic ideas and developed them into their own poems using our writing frame.

In Maths this week we have been looking at finding the missing part. We have used practical resources to ‘hide’ a part and to count back to find the part that is hidden. We moved this on to look at our new symbol ‘-‘ which is the subtraction symbol, which we also describe as ‘taking away’. The children have been using resources to solve subtraction number sentences and have really enjoyed showing us their understanding.

On Thursday we watched the children in Year 2 and 4 performing their play ‘The Wind in the Willows’. The children really enjoyed the performance and the singing, and sat beautifully throughout!

Today we participated in the ‘Skip2bfit’ activity where the children got the chance to skip.
