In the eyes of God, every child matters, every moment of every day

14th October 2022

Talk Homework- We will be building a model Buckden Village on Friday next week. Please could you provide any boxes and containers for junk modelling. No egg boxes though, thanks. Please talk with your child about the buildings, shops and facilities in Buckden.

The shared reading text we've completed this week is 'Sam and Ted'. You can access this electronically on the Success For All Phonics Parent Portal.

Keep up with three times a week reading and recording on the Boom Reader App.

We have been thinking a lot about our homes this week. Thank you for sending in photos of your homes for the children to paint! They also made clay house 'plaques' and practised writing their names in the clay as well as adding adornments such as bricks and windows.

This week we reviewed all the sounds taught to date -- s a t p i n m d o c k ck e u r -- and the children all had a reading assessment. The results of the reading assessments will be shared with you at Parents' Evening, so you have some idea on which areas your child needs to focus.

In maths, the children have been learning all about subitising to 3. They know that they can see amounts without having to count!  They are all quite proud of themselves.

In PSHE, we continue to learn about recognising emotions in ourselves and others and what we can do to find 'win win' compromises in times of disagreement. We've practised our fine motor skills, using tweezers and natural materials to make 'faces' in frames and for Science we discussed how all people grow: starting their lives as babies, growing into children, teenagers, adults and then becoming elderly. The children shared their knowledge about all these phases of growing up, which made for some interesting conversation!
