Homework –

Spellings - This week’s spellings are - bank, honk, think, skin, basket.

Your spelling rule - sound is spelt as k rather than as c before e, i and y.

Please practice your spellings daily in lots of different ways, in your handwriting books, using chalks, rainbow writing, write them in a sentence, write them using the opposite hand, write them and underline the vowel, make them in playdough, use magnetic letters. Be as creative as you can.

Talk homework

Talk about what signs of Autumn you know.

Abacus - The children can access this resource via the website and complete one game as their Mathematics homework. https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk

The children have their own log in details, these can be found in their reading diaries. The school code is kmm7 in the bottom box.

Reading

Please see the letter regarding reading expectations in the front of your child’s reading diary. Please ensure your child has their reading folder in school everyday. The children will bring home a weekly reading for pleasure book, as well as their reading book. This is to share together and promote a love for reading.

Phonics

Practice reading, writing and sound buttons on your real and nonsense words.

In English, we are very excited to start our new text ‘Claude in the City’. We have talked about how to be a good friend as the main character Claude has a good friend Sir Bobblysock (which we found very funny).

We have a new Global learning topic ‘Sustainable Cities’. We have started this topic in using our Geography skills, in naming and labelling all of the UK cities.

Within Science, our new topic for this half term is materials and seasons. We have had a great time exploring which materials are the best to build a house, we read the three little pigs to inspire us.

In Mathematics, we have used our amazing addition and subtraction skills to solve word problems. We are moving onto numbers to 50.

‘I liked have enjoyed English, when we described the character Clause from our new book.’ (Isla and Hayden)

‘I liked learning about cities in the UK.’ (Emily)

I liked PSHE when we talked about what makes a good friend.’ (Darcey)

‘I enjoyed maths, using cubes to help us with addition and subtraction problems’ (George)
