Friday 16th October, Isatou Ceesay, Class Blog

Happy Friday!

In June, there will be a Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) set by the government.  The purpose of the MTC is to determine whether children can recall their times tables fluently, which is essential for future success in Mathematics. It will help us to identify children who have not yet mastered their times tables, so that additional support can be provided. Times Table Rock Stars is set up in the same way as the national test. Please encourage your child to learn their tables.  We are working hard on them at school.

All of the children have their passwords for: Times Table Rock Stars and Abacus (this is directly related to our class work) https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk  (Your child knows their username. The password is ceesay and the school code kmm7 in the bottom box.).

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button this is also a great place to help with your child’s times tables!

Also, Nessy (if they do this at school) and daily reading.  All of these can be worked on at home.

In English, as part of our Power of Reading text, Mama Miti, we revisited the water cycle and wrote some cool raps and amazing poems.

In Mathematics, we worked hard on subtracting two, 4 digit numbers with exchanging, even with zeros.  Some of us really improved in this week’s times table quiz.  A few got 100% and in less than five minutes.

In Science, as part of our work on habitats and how they change during different seasons, we wrote so fabulous autumn Acrostic poems.

In Global Learning (Art), we have had a lovely morning, sketching and rubbing leaves using wax crayons.

In P.E. with Miss. Lizell, we worked on our fitness.  We got really muddy from doing so many ‘down and ups.’

Finally, it is Dyslexia awareness month.  Next Friday, we can wear red to school to support this and make a voluntary contribution if we would like to.

Bon weekend!

In English, we wrote plays based on the conversation between Mama Miti and another poor lady.  Mrs. Gill was really impressed and some of us also managed to include Fronted Adverbials.

In Mathematics, in particular in T.T.R.S. a few of us beat our times and more of us this week got 100%.

In Science/English we talked about which trees would make for the best firewood.  Following this, we spent a while bark rubbing.  It was lovely to be out in the sunshine.

In Computing, we explored Word.  We remembered how to save a document in the correct area, how to edit work and how to save a picture and insert it.  We got there in the end after having to lay down in a dark room for a while.

In P.E, we played a proper Rounders Match, it was cool!

Finally, thank you once again for your Harvest contributions, the food bank in Godmanchester were delighted.  We contributed 178kg and received a certificate!
