Doodle Maths: 10 min per day
Reading out loud at least 10 mins per day
This week, we celebrated David Attenborough Day, where the children learned about his remarkable life and achievements. In English, they created fact files about Sir David Attenborough, exploring his incredible contributions to wildlife conservation and the natural world. The children showed great enthusiasm and curiosity, producing informative and well-presented work.
We then went on a school field walk, where the children observed the natural environment closely. They discovered a variety of beautiful flowers and plants and carefully drew them, adding detailed labels and observations. The level of detail and care was exceptional, and the finished drawings were truly beautiful, reflecting both strong observational skills and creativity.
In maths, the children have been learning column subtraction this week. They have progressed very quickly, demonstrating accurate calculations and growing confidence. Impressively, they are now applying these skills to real-life examples, showing a clear understanding of how maths is used in everyday situations.
In art, the children completed their main pieces: stunning collages inspired by the work of Camilla Ru. Alongside their artwork, the children explored important ideas around fair trade, including fair pay and safe working environments. This helped them understand the wider meaning behind the materials and themes they were using.
We continue interweaving the children’s curriculum, helping them make meaningful links between subjects. This approach supports deeper understanding and allows the children to see how learning connects across different areas of the curriculum.
