What a scorcher! We hope everyone is coping in the heat. 

Year 5 have a lot to be proud of this week; their maturity and resilience has shone. Aside from trying to learn in the substantial heat, we had our PSHE lesson about puberty which they handled with curiosity, respect and maturity. 

We've also started to look at angles more closely in Math, learning about degrees of turns and estimating angles based on known facts. In English, we practised our creative short-burst writing so they knew how to complete their homework and practised our comprehension whilst reading our book 'When the Sky Falls'. 

Understandably, pupils are keen to know whether they're with Mrs Purser or Mrs Walker next year to help prepare for the change. They will all find out Monday afternoon and the respectve pupils they're with, too. We've explained that the classes have been split factoring in various complex reasons, but they should all be with at least one child that they are 'friendly/familiar' with. We've tried to prioritise positive classroom relationships as much as possible as socialising can be done at breaktimes. Equally, Year 6 blend classes more often than other year groups so even if your child is not with their preferred people they will still interact academically across the year.  The children will be back with their Year 5 teachers on Friday for Sports Day and for the remaining weeks.
