This week, Year 5 welcomed student teacher Miss Phelps who will be with Mrs Schmidt and Milligan class until June. We also had a great opportunity to have a career talk from an ITV journalistic, which links beautifully in to our upcoming filming of our infomercial about their sustainable city and next week's writing of a newspaper report.

Today, in our DT groups, we peer assessed the designs of our sustainable buildings, and they decided on which design they'll be building. You may start hearing requests from children to gather recyclable material to decorate their wooden frames – foil for solar panels, cardboard for walls, samples of astro-turf to mimic roof gardens and plastic bottles for biodomes etc. Year 5 are going to need to plan, problem solve and prepare for the last week of term when they'll be creating. Prior to this, they'll construct their wooden cuboid frame. Please speak to your child about what they need as every child in their group are responsible for bring in materials.

In Math, we've been focused on multiplying decimals and measurements - we will continue this next week. In History, we looked at how the Anglo-Saxons lives sustainably through the materials they used, their resources and ways of life. In RE, we passionately debated who was responsible for Jesus' death.

    Have a good weekend.
