Talk Homework: How many different levers and sliders can you find around your home? Can you find any other mechanisms?

We have been super busy this week! In science, we did comparative testing- we filtered dirty water using a range of materials and even set up our own equipment! We found out that paper towel was not a good material to filter water because it disintegrated and made the water dirty. We noticed that cotton was the best in our test because it left a colourless liquid. In maths, we have been learning about fractions of shape and revising our place value of two digit numbers, including representing them in different ways. In DT, we have researched, designed and made levers and sliders. We know that sliders are mechanisms that move left to right and/or up and down. We also made a lever which needs a pivot in order to move around. On Tuesday, we were so inspired by Sean Rose and his life achievements, even after challenges he has faced in his life. We loved taking part in the exercises and learning about how to have a positive mindset. In PE today we started multi-skills, we learnt how to run a slalom and have focused on our agility and coordination skills. In English, we have created a story map about the fairytale 'Rapunzel'- ask us about the traditional version we learnt about!

Matilda- 'I have enjoyed doing maths when we do tens and ones and all the different ways to show the number'

Jimmy- 'I enjoyed maths when we were doing fractions of shapes'

Jacob- 'I enjoyed DT when we made our levers and sliders'

Edmund- 'I enjoyed when we did the shapes in maths'

Orla- 'I enjoyed playing with friends and doing maths'

Hope you have a good weekend!
