Talk homework

Talk to your adults at home about the maths vocabulary we have been learning this week to compare numbers - greater than, less than and equal to. You could even use household objects/toys to compare amounts using the vocabulary.

Reading

Thank you to everyone who has been logging their reading on our new Boom Reader app! Please ensure that you log every time you read with your child.

From next week, we will be changing the children’s books once a week to provide an opportunity to read the book three times for fluency and understanding. Book change will take place on a Tuesday, when the children will also get their new spelling words.

Spellings

The children came home with six spelling words to learn on Wednesday:

stay
play
may
tray
oh
the

The children are expected to practise these at home, as well as in school and will be tested on these words on a Monday. The children will come home with new spelling words every Tuesday to give them lots of time to practise reading and writing them.

We will put next week’s Spellings up on Tuesday in a separate Blog Post.

On Thursday afternoon we had a last minute opportunity to visit St. Mary’s Church, where we incorporated our RE learning with our Global Learning topic. We had a talk with Father David and Jennifer from the Actios team about the history of the Church, as well as had an opportunity to explore the Church in more detail and draw different parts of it. We found out that in the past, children used to learn in the Porch area of the Church, where there was no door, no windows and very uncomfortable flooring! The children behaved so well and were a credit to the school.

In DT we will be designing and making our own classroom tables to support our Global Learning topic ‘Quality Education’. Please could you save your cereal boxes over the next couple of weeks so that we can use them for our project in the final week of half term, thank you!
