Talk homework

Talk about some of the things you learned about during Science week.

Abacus - The children can access this resource via the website and complete one game as their Mathematics homework. https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk

The children have their own log in details, these can be found in their reading diaries. The school code is kmm7 in the bottom box.

Reading

Please see the letter regarding reading expectations in the front of your child’s reading diary. Please ensure your child has their reading folder in school every day. The children will bring home a weekly reading for pleasure book, as well as their reading book. This is to share together and promote a love for reading.

This week, we have had a very exciting week because the whole school have been celebrating Science Week!

On Monday, Science week was kicked off with an assembly where Mr Palmer and Mrs Tarpey did some Science experiments!

On Tuesday, we went into the hall where there were lots of different people. We had to try and guess what their exciting jobs were – including a wind turbine engineer, building and engineering, an artist and lots more!

We also went to the allotments and saw a horse called Tilly and some chickens! We saw lots of plants including cabbages, sunflowers, and we also harvested some vegetables including rocket leaves and tomatoes!

On Wednesday we all went into a big blue dome in the hall, we looked at lots of different pictures. We learned all about the water cycle – water from the sea evaporates and forms clouds – it then precipitates (WOW Hayden) as rain, and then runs back down to the sea where the water cycle starts all over again! We also found out that the water we drink today is BILLIONS of years old!

On Thursday we did a whole school investigation about bouncing balls. We made a ramp, rolled each ball down and had to rate how well they bounced. We made predictions before we conducted the experiment and then wrote a conclusion to talk about which balls bounced the best!

“I really enjoyed having my picnic on the field at lunch” Fin

“I loved going in the dome and learning about the water cycle” Xyla

“I enjoyed going to the allotment and visiting the chickens and Tilly” Emily

“I enjoyed making flowers, it was a challenge I loved doing” Ava T
