Talk Homework:

*Talk to your child about how to cross the road safely with an adult and ways they can be safe on their bike and/or scooter (for example, wearing a helmet). Tier 1: safe, crossing, pavement Tier 2: vehicle, zebra crossing Tier 3: pedestrian

*Talk to your child about signs you notice (and their meanings) on the journey to and from school.

*Help your child choose fancy dress to wear on Friday for Children in Need and discuss why they are doing it. Remember, you don't need to purchase anything new -- recycling is a great way to make a costume.

Another busy week! It was lovely speaking with all of you during Parents' Evening. Thank you for your time and for patience with technology. I look forward to when we can return face-to-face meetings.

This week started with Diwali Day on Monday. We painted with spices, imagined what a Hindu temple would be like, sampled bread, poppadoms and mango chutney and made rangoli patterns with coloured rice.

We also walked to the Nature Reserve to observe the improvements being carried out. We got to watch a huge digger drive support posts into the ground and we were able to feed the ducks. Many of the children remembered what the Nature Reserve looked like before this work commenced and were able to tell me what changes they noticed. We are looking forward to visiting again and seeing how different the Nature Reserve looks when the work is finished.

Yesterday we spent some time discussing Remembrance Day and the significance of the poppy. We observed 2 minutes of silence at 11:00 and the children stood respectfully.

In phonics we learned the graphemes/phonemes: b, f, ff, l, ll and ss. In maths we compared amounts of objects and used the vocabulary: fewer than, more than and equal.
