Please read with your child for 10 mins per day.

Doodle Maths summer challenge has started and you can sign up for it now.

This week, we made the most of the hot weather by enjoying lots of time outdoors. The children had great fun taking part in water play and water fights, and we ensured everyone stayed cool by spending time in the shade throughout the day.

Thank you for your continued support in helping your children manage the heat— they have shown fantastic resilience and excellent teamwork all week, which has been wonderful to see.

In Maths, we have been learning about weights and measures, culminating in an exciting lesson on capacity. We took our learning outside and compared cylinders and jugs filled with water. The children carried out an investigation to explore which container held the most water. They also discussed different units of measure and were able to confidently identify similarities and differences between the containers.

In English, we have been studying UG by Raymond Briggs, the author of The Snowman. The children explored elements of life in the Stone Age, including clothing and how people hunted during that period. This links closely with our History learning on The Stone Age, helping to deepen their understanding through storytelling.

In Geography, we focused on intensive farming. The children were particularly fascinated by the idea of driverless tractors! We also discussed the advantages and disadvantages of using pesticides and fertilisers, including the importance of not using them near water sources to prevent contamination.

We hope you all have a wonderful, sun-filled weekend!
