Friday 27th February

Home Learning

Please ensure that you are logging all reading with your child on Boomreader, if there are any words or sounds they struggle with add these so we can help them within their learning.

Please ensure that your child does their Doodlemaths, an assignment will be added every Friday for them to complete, we are able to analyse any gaps they have and address this within our learning.

Homework expectations are 30 minutes of Doodlemaths a week minimum and logging reading on Boomreader 3 times a week minimum.

We have some spellings to support their phonics learning, we are currently looking at the 'ow’ sound (snow). Please practice these over the weekend for an informal test next week.

snow, row, pillow, below, windows.

The slow crow sat on the snowy bench.

In English this week we have started our new book and the children are really enjoying it so far! They have been making predictions on where they think the characters will be going on their adventures and did some great drawings to show this. We then wrote a poem as a class all about an adventure to the city and we went through our senses to help us.

In maths we have been looking at place value and have begun using dienes to help to understand tens and ones. The children have picked this up really quickly and we are impressed with their efforts.

In science we have been looking at seasons and how they change across the year. We looked at what happens to the weather, the plants and what clothes we might need in each season.

On Thursday 5th March it is world book day where your children can dress up as a word. They will need a label somewhere on their costume to show what word they are dressed up as e.g. sparkling. If your children would like to dress up as a character from a book then this is absolutely fine but they must just choose a word to go with it, such as ‘Magical’ for Harry Potter.
