Home Learning:

Please ensure that you are logging all reading with your child on Boomreader, if there are any words or sounds they struggle with add these so we can help them within their learning.

Please ensure that your child does 45 mins of Doodlemaths each week.  An assignment will be added every Friday for them to complete, we are able to analyse any gaps they have and address this within our learning.

We have some spellings to support their phonics learning, this week we reviewed the ir, aw, ue and ew sound. Please practice these over the weekend for an informal test next week.

This week the children have been looking at numbers from 6-10 in maths. They were able to use a number line to estimate where numbers should go and they were encouraged to explain their reasoning behind this. We then looked at odd and even numbers and explored what this means. The children were really good at using Numicon and cubes to support their learning.

In English we are continuing to read ‘Look Up’. The children wrote a diary entry as if they were Rocket and produced some of the best work they had done so far this year. I was brilliant to see how far their handwriting has come and how fantastic their ideas were!

In history the children have been looking at how Buckden has changed since the time of the Doomsday book and we got to look at an old map of Buckden and then write a diary entry to describe what we could see as if we were walking through.

In Science we have been looking at waterproof materials. The children were tasked with designing an umbrella for a teddy to keep him dry. They tested lots of different materials to see which would be the best one and they did well at recording their results.

If you have any cereal bar boxes please could you bring these in so the children can use these for an upcoming DT project, thank you!
