This week we have continued to read Street Child and we have been learning what it was like to live in the Workhouse in Victorian times. We now know a lot about the living conditions and what the food was like. We know what broth and Skilly is. Next week, we will be writing a diary entry in the role of Jim Jarvis from the book.

In maths, we have continued to work with positive and negative numbers in different contexts including coordinates.

History has taken us to the Rainhill trials in 1829 where we learnt that Stephenson's Rocket was the winning engine and became the steam train used on the Liverpool to Manchester railway. We are beginning to realise that the Steam Engine changed Britain in a good way but also had a negative impact.

In R.E. we are extending our learning about Buddhism. We have learnt what enlightenment means and why the Lotus flower symbolises Enlightenment.

In P.E. we are continuing to extend our teamwork strengths through football and NFL.

We are exploring reversible reactions in Science by observing chocolate melting and cooling. We drew an accurate annotated diagram of our experiment to show changing states of matter.
