Any last minute volunteers for the Paxton Pits trip would be greatly appreciated. Ensure that you have completed the form by Monday. We are desperate for extra support -- mums, dads, grandparents are welcome. Unfortunately, this is not a trip for younger siblings.

This week, we learned about planting seeds and writing instructions about how to plant a seed. All the children wrote instructions, using the words first, next, then and after as sentence starters. They're become adept instruction writers!

In PE, we have been going out on the field and practising our running skills and changing direction whilst we run. We have also been able to fint in some parachute games, much to everyone's delight.

In art, we have been learning about Andy Goldsworthy and creating our own natural art from materials collected around the playing field.

In maths we have been exploring the composition of 20. We've played games and used 10 frames and Numicon to explore the idea of "teen" numbers being composed of 1 ten and ______ more.

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend.

Please check in your child's reading folder as they have a summary of their most recent phonics assessment.

We have found that many children are finding the tricky 'red' words hard to recall. These are in the front of the reading books and are non-phonetically decodable words. We teach these as captial letter names eg. O-U-R = our. Many children know the words when an adults says the letter names but are struggling to do this independently.

The tricky words to focus upon are: is, the, I, of, to, are, was, all, you, said, like, our, to, no, go.
